I am so sorry for not posting anything for so long, we are currently spending time in the South West of France in my great grandfather's house, Pepe Jules! We have no internet access in the village so we feel really isolated here. Maybe that's a good thing!
We inherited this family home (which was built in 1781) where every year the whole family descends for the Fete du Village over the last weekend of August. It is real family time - all of the children get to spend time playing, swimming and eating together.
This year the adults have all spent time cleaning out the old (uninhabitable) rooms of the house. We've found of lots of interesting objects belonging to different generations of our family. Old frames, French magazines like Paris Match (from the 1950s). This house has at various stages been a hairdresser/barber, farm, school and bar so you can imagine how many interesting things there are to find!
We return to the UK next week, so will be doing some more posts on our trip through France, plus a bit more about our next adventure......
