Joyeuse Fête à toutes les mamans

...avec un jour de retard! It was Mother's Day in France yesterday. It was such a perfect day: I had the luxury to stay in bed until 10am while Simon prepared a lovely breakfast table with croissants, pain au raisins, fresh coffee and a massive flower bouquet. Ophelia made a beautiful drawing and ceramics and Lucien (18 months)gave me a cute little frame picture of him (with his beloved dummy!).
For the afternoon we went to Paris to Le Supermarket, a very popular designer/makers sale in a beautiful warehouse in the 3rd Arrondissement. Among them, designers like Zoé de las Cases, Louis-Louise, Nordinary, Coq en Pate and many more talented people!

The playful world of Takashi Iwasaki

Takashi Iwasaki uses different media to create his colourful designs: embroidery, painting, drawing, collages. He likes to mix his technique to keep his thoughts and ideas fluid and flexible. I first saw one of his illustration in Elle Deco and was instantly blown away. His abstract drawings reminds me of the work of Joan Miro.

A weekend in London

Simon and I had a weekend together in London (the children were in Paris with their grand-parents). It was so nice to spend quality time together (walk for hours without having to stop for a nappy change!). The weather was so lovely. We walked through Green Park where lots of people were enjoying the sunshine relaxing in these beautiful deckchairs. We stopped (for quite a while) in the newly (for me) refurbished John Lewis on Oxford Street to buy a swimsuit for Lucien and few bits for us. We then continued our promenade in Marylebone High Street. Lots of colourful paper lanterns were hanging from the ceiling in the Conran Shop. Don't you think this installation would look stunning for a Summer garden party?

Seasons

Or Saisons in French is a beautiful hardback book by French illustrator Blexbolex. I love the bold screen printed illustrations and the limited choice of colours as it makes the images very powerful.

Can you see what I see?

French artist Sandrine Estrade Boulet has the visual spontaneity of a child, she takes time to contemplate her surroundings and her imagination is endless: a monster hides in a fur coat, the mask of a white Dark Vador appears under a disused computer and big green eyes are watching you behind a closed gate. I love it!

lace & clay

I finally found the time this weekend to go to my mum's ceramic studio (Terre & Montagne) and tried making things like this vintage lace impression on clay. It will be a salad bowl for home. The clay is now slowly drying. Once it has dried it will be heated and glazed. I'll show you a photograph of the final result as soon as possible!
