So it has taken a while, but we've finally started producing our maps as paper cut originals. Hurrah!
The problem to date has been finding somebody that can recreate the maps to their finest details...a laser that can cut out the fingers on a hand or the wisps of hair on a head.
Well we found those people...quietly working away in Scotland doing some wonderful stuff. I think we set them a new challenge with these maps, but my, how they have risen to the task!
By way of a launch (!), we've also produced a short film showing how we made San Francisco:
There are some wonderful details in this map - many little secrets about San Francisco that were provided by the readers of this blog. Thanks so much to you all!
All of our new paper cut originals are available to buy now at Famille Summerbelle.
Creative work with smart attention, Amazing! keep sharing.

These are amazing, and would make a really great gift! How many different maps are you going to do? It must take ages to make the template!

You know, to celebrate your new laser cutters, doing a map of Scottish city would be awesome. I would buy Glasgow or Edinburgh in a heartbeat. :-)

I've got the Paris print already, but it looks so amazing in the black cut out...Just gorgeous!

This is beautiful; thanks for sharing the 'making of'. I'm wondering, does the cutter ever make a mistake? Is there any stickytape holding bits together? There sure would be if I was doing it...
