As a fourth generation family-owned fine paper manufacturer in the US (since 1931), Mohawk believes in emphasising the importance of crafting beautiful, unique products by hand. They are supporting creatives, designers, manufacturers, artists, artisans, and all those who make their living as makers, through the Mohawk Maker Campaign.
For any paper lovers and creatives out there we are very proud to say that we use what we believe to be the finest paper made today: Mohawk Superfine. No other paper has the same reputation for quality, consistency and uniformity. The smooth white Superfine paper really makes the colours of our screen prints stand out so beautifully.
We are delighted to be featured on Felt & Wire, the inspiring blog of Mohawk celebrating the universe of paper, design and print.
I wanted to share with you some photos of the process of screen printing our World map:
All of the colours follow a Pantone reference but are mixed by hand and eye - which makes some serious experience. The paint is pushed through a squeegee (i love that word!) on to the silkscreen then onto the paper.
Each layer needs to be completely dry before applying the next.
