Our home featured in Spur magazine, Japan

I am delighted to finally show you the article in this month issue of Spur Magazine featuring our home in Amsterdam and other homes of illustrators living in other european cities:
Hanna Konola and Teresa Moorhouse in Helsinki, Isabelle Boinot in Paris, Tina Berning in Berlin.
It has been a pleasure to meet the photographer Fumie Tsuji (who's also the lead singer in her band Fleckfumie!) who came from Berlin for a day to shoot our house back in May.

In search for wallpaper and interior fabrics

A new kitchen for the holidays

We're planning to build a new kitchen in the old barn of our family home in the south west of France over the next month or so. The house is very old and used to be over the years the village school, a barber (!) and an auberge where the men would meet for a drink after a day working in the fields (in the 1920's). My great grand father lived there, my grand father was born in the annex (where they used to dry tobacco!).
Every year at the end of August we all meet there to spend some time together. That's my brother, his wife and their 4 children, my 3 sisters and their boyfriends, my dad, his wife and the 4 of us. It's a happy and rather chaotic place when we're all together. I love it! This year we're going to build a new kitchen in the renovated barn as the actual kitchen is more than 20 years old and start to be very small when we all cook together.
At the moment my sister is drawing the plans while I'm researching ideas and pin them on Pinterest. I love this part of research! The hard bit is to make this happened in a tight budget and on time before the Summer!

Oh! and today we've been featured in the (free) issue 4 of Enfants Terribles, a really nice Danish online magazine! Check out my interview here. Aurélie Lecuyer our stylist and photographer is also featured with beautiful photos of her house in France.

FS featured in Taiwanese design magazine dpi

We are very honoured to be featured for the first time in a Taiwanese magazine, and even better in the beautiful DPI design magazine. The article is about our paper cut map series and the world of Famille Summerbelle. It is such a pleasure to be featured alongside talented map lover illustrators like Vesa Sammalisto, Mads Berg and Aleksandra and Daniel Mizielinski.

Famille Summerbelle in Japan

Kon nichi wa, hello!
I am in Tokyo and very much looking forward to my week in Japan! I am traveling with my mum while Simon is at home having fun with the children (thank you Simon!). We are over to launch our latest book Be Creative with Famille Summerbelle with Edition Paumes . They have invited us to do an exhibition of Famille Summerbelle work and Terre et Montagne (my mother ceramic work) at their gallery space Doux Dimanche in Aoyama (my favorite area in Tokyo!).

Galerie Doux Dimanche is owned by Edition Paumes. Each product is beautifully presented in the shop. You can find designer pieces from Nathalie Lété, Tsé-Tsé, La Cocotte, Famille Summerbelle :-) and of course the huge collection of their wonderful books!

World Map Collection Pleats Please Issey Miyake

I've had something of a love affair with Japan ever since we visited back in 2008, so it feels extra special to be able to share this with you.
We have just launched this collaboration with Issey Miyake for their Pleats Please range.

It's based on my World Map design and it includes a wonderful collection of clothing and accessories.
The map has been adapted specifically for Pleats Please, placing Japan absolutely at the heart of the map.

It's a fabulous collection, with this special limited edition dress as a centre piece at their flagship store in Tokyo, Ginza.

I'm also very proud to see our paper cut original maps used as part of the exhibition.

The World Map Pleats Please collection is available now in all the Issey Miyake stores worldwide.

Famille Summerbelle - The Book!

We are so pleased to announce the launch of the book "Be Creative with Famille Summerbelle", a collaboration with the fabulous Japanese publisher édition Paumes.

The book is a peak inside our home and family life. It includes tips and inspiration for handmade ideas and inspiring home decor. It, of course, includes plenty of paper cutting and fun activities to do with your children.

We've been huge fans of édition Paumes for quite sometime, amassing a rather large collection of their wonderful books on European interior style, family homes and culture.
They came to live with us over a couple of weeks and we had a ball creating all number of decorative ideas. They have a wonderful style and interest in the smallest of details which we hope comes across well in the book.

The book is mostly written in Japanese but all of the titles are in English and there is plenty of translation throughout. To be honest all of édition Paumes' books are incredibly visual, so you can rely on the images to give you all the detail that you need!

XXL Paris map

A huge thank you to the Dutch magazine Ariadne at Home Kinderen for featuring our Paris map in their latest issue. When they contacted me before the Summer, they asked me if they could enlarged the Paris map into a wall sticker for the photo shoot. I really love the result!

Papier Maché Issue 4

The beautiful Papier Maché online mag has released a new issue. As always it's a pleasure to read and look at. I wanted to say a big MERCI to Emma Cassi for including our new coral pink Paris map in her photoshoot 'I fell asleep amongst the flowers.. for a couple of hours...' (love the title). This little blond curly hair girl is so cute!
